I. KME uses modern 1000 Den. "Cordura" nylon fabric, in the
place of cotton "duck" canvas. The standard color is black, but
orange and white are available by special order.
II. KME modifies the
legs of the standard Navy MK-V Chaffing Pants
by placing a slot up the back of the leg to behind the knee . This slot
makes it easy to kneel while working on your knees. The bottom of the
pant legs are held in place by lacing loops of bungee cord across each
slot, thus allowing great flexibility while still protecting the leg front.
III. The AC-4070 Modified Navy model has a large pocket
on the front
of each leg that extends down the leg with a Ballistic Nylon kneepad over it
below the pocket for Triple Protection.
IV. The AC-4071 West Coast model has large pockets on
the front and
back of both legs, with hook & loop fastened flaps.
V. For the Hobby diver, KME makes an authentic
pattern MK-V Chaffing
Pants, AC-4070-V, using white "Cordura" nylon material. Original Navy
Canvas is available by special order. Tnis model comes with suspenders and
leather laces on the back of the legs. See the U.S. Navy Diving manual (1948).
VI. All Commercial models of KME Chaffing Pants come stock
with loops for rope
suspenders and a standard rope "draw string" is installed in the top edge.
VII. AC-4074 Suspenders are an additional option for all KME Commercial
Diving Chaffing Pants. These suspenders are made of 1.5" heavy polyester webbing with
quick release adjustable buckles for setting the suspender length.
